The Waldhotel Schäferberg is situated on the fringes of the forest ‘Reinhardswald’, close to the city of Kassel in the heart of Germany. Our comfortable hotel is surrounded by nature. Just step out of the entrance and you will find yourself at the beginning of a relaxing walk through the forest.

Beside this quietness we offer a unique private atmosphere. During the winter you can relax in front of the chimney and in the summertime you will enjoy the light winter garden with our lovely restaurant. Our friendly staff takes care of your well being all over the year.

Our chefs combine indigenous and exotic ingredients and herbs in perfect harmony.

In the "blauen Ente" (blue duck), the non-smoking restaurant in Waldhotel Schäferberg, you can discover cuisine which is down-to-earth yet creative and modern. All dishes are prepared from fresh ingredients from the region. Some ingredients, such as numerous garden herbs, we even harvest ourselves. Enjoy the combination of tradition and fine living.

"Unsere grüne Soße" (our green sauce, a local speciality), just like the various duck dishes, exemplifies our traditional cuisine with a modern lightness.

Getting to the hotel by car:
North-South direction:
Take the motorway A7 until the exit 'Kassel Nord'. Take the freeway B7 in the direction 'Flughafen Kassel-Calden'. After leaving the town of Kassel (after 5 km) you will find the hotel on the right, shortly after the turnoff to 'Espenau'.

Coming out of the west:
Take the motorway A44 to Kassel until the exit 'Warburg'. Follow the freeway B7 in the direction 'Wartburg / Kassel'. After passing the town of Calden you will find the hotel on the left. Leave the freeway to the right at the turnoff to 'Espenau' and then follow the signs.

The national train station 'Kassel Wilhelmshöhe', is about 11 km away from the hotel. From there you can take the regional train to the station 'Mönchehof'. Arriving at that station you can walk about 20 minutes or take the bus No 47.

The regional airport Kassel-Calden is about 5 km away.
